Fitness for Dancers Workshop mit Emeric Rabot & Joelle Dumas
FIT TO DANCE is an immersive, movement-based workshop where dance and science come together. Dance Science explores the connection between movement, performance, and longevity. Our passion is to translate scientific research into practical, interactive experiences that enrich training, artistry, and well-being. Whether you are a dancer, athlete, or movement practitioner, understanding the science behind movement can enhance your performance and longevity. Did you know that a well-managed fitness level not only reduces the risk of injury but also optimises recovery and enhances overall performance? In this workshop, we’ll dive into fitness training and periodisation, key tools that help dancers of all styles stay strong, alert, and resilient. Through guided improvisations and dynamic tasks, you’ll explore:
- The how and why of tailored warm-ups
- The metabolic difference between training and performing
- The keys to a well-planned training routine
Rather than sitting for theory, you'll be in motion; feeling, testing, and integrating new knowledge as you move. We also tailor the experience to the needs of each participant, making space for personal exploration and discussion.

LIQUID EMBODIMENT
Come and join an adventure for body Lovers/Movers to inquire the layers of what constitutes the human experience. In this Masterclass we will be dissecting and analysing the bravery of a pure heart, we will scientifically approach the gold, the magic, the sweet spot how 5 core essences can turn our experience into the strongest states. The 5 essences are: Vulnerability, Authenticity, Freedom, Honesty, Participation.
We will go through a buffet of body tools and methodologies to crack open our ancient code: the Bodytale. Think bodywork, liquid floor work, structured improvisation, high presence, group endeavours as one body, etc.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this laboratory is to connect the dance scene, familiarise with each other, share some of my research with you, and for me to see if there is resonance for future collaborations.
Cyr is a multi talented artist in both bodywork and contemporary dance. He jungles his many spiritual insights to bring an actualisation in the body, as change will only appear once embodied. His speciality is revolving around the grand array of sensitivity the human body can experience. Leading people getting familiar and accustomed with their extra sensorial perceptions, he thrives in exposing the innate intelligence of a group—body.

Payatt Intransit mit Rakesh Sukesh
Payatt Intransit is a contemporary movement technique that merges movement principles from the ancient Indian martial art form of Kalaripayattu with yogic practices, pranayama (breath work), and energy work to activate the body's energy sources. This comprehensive approach trains practitioners in a manner that is safe, organic, and yet rigorous, empowering them to become more confident, relaxed, flexible, and powerful. By incorporating pranayama, this training not only sharpens reflexes but also deepens our connection to our breath, enhancing our ability to cultivate a constant sense of inner calm amidst physical exertion. The class challenges both our physical and mental frontier, encouraging us to be quick and energetic in our movements while maintaining a state of mental calmness and relaxation, undisturbed by the intensity of physical activity. Through the practice of pranayama, we learn to control our breath, which in turn helps us to isolate the intense physical aspect of the class from the constant calm within. This empowers us to gain complete control over our movements rather than being controlled by them, enhancing our ability to adapt to unexpected situations and make innovative yet efficient choices. By combining our physical energy with the energy around us, and integrating the power of controlled breathing, we achieve a harmonious balance of body and mind.
Rakesh Sukesh, a dynamic performer, choreographer, teacher, and producer, bridges the cultural and artistic worlds of Bharat (India) and Belgium. Rooted in yogic philosophy, he earned accreditaton from the Shivananda Yoga Centre and enhanced his artistic expression through KalaripayaEu and contemporary dance. His training includes mentorship by renowned masters like Jaychandran Palazy, Dil Sagar, Kate Duck, and David Zambrano. As a choreographer, his creations span contnents, including notable works like A Dream of Silence (2011), YATRA (2013, with Joost Vrouenraets), Borderland (2015, with Eddie Oroyan), and May Us Bless the I (with Francisco Córdova). His latest production, because I love the diversity (this micro-a[tude we all have it) commissioned by Vancouver’s Push Festival, is touring in 2025 in USA, UK and Europe. Rakesh is currently offering is expertise as performer to the esteemed companies such as Ultima Vez in Infamous Offspring, Roosana & Kenneth Company in Prime Mover and Shelter Ouroboros, and Andrea Boll in Down the River, Downtown, and Downhill. Over 15 years, Rakesh has developed the globally acclaimed Intact Method, integrating yogic principles, KalaripayaEu, and contemporary dance and breath work (yogic and modern science influence). He has taught at pres9tigious institutions, including Impuls Tanz, Ultima Vez, Deltebre Dansa, Sidi Larbi Company, PARTS to name a few. As a producer, he co-directed the Sanskar International Dance Festival and Sanskar Virtual Festival. He is now co-producing and curating Dance on Screen in Switzerland, continuing to innovate and inspire through cross-cultural artistic endeavours.

Through improvisation-based partner exercises (with and without touch) we will warm up, strengthen our ability of solo creation and solo performing to finally show short impro-vised solos to our (supportive) partners. In other words, we practice being on stage, practice being seen, showing and sharing our dances. This work touches upon questions of performance, presence, composition, your personal taste and your creative wishes.
Susanne Martin is a Berlin-based choreographer, performer, researcher, and teacher of contemporary dance. She presents her work internationally in solo performances and col-laborative stage works. She focuses on improvisation as choreographic practice, critical practices and narrations of age(ing), contact improvisation, artistic research methods, and improvisation-based approaches to learning, knowledge production and knowledge dis-semination. Festivals that presented her performances include: International Dance and Theatre Festival (Gothenburg), Aerowaves (London), Nottdance (Nottingham), Opera Es-tate (Bassano del Grappa), Tanec Praha (Prague).
In her PhD research Dancing Age(ing) she examined how improvisation based dance can develop images and practices of age(ing) that allow dance to evolve as an age critical arts practice. In her postdoctoral research at EPFL Switzerland she examined dance improvisa-tion in its potential to rethink and advance processes of learning, teaching and research-ing in a technical university.
